John Jay High School operates with the continuing goal of providing high quality instruction to each and every student. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic and the fact that students, teachers, and administrators are all forced to operate from home, an alternative means to achieving this goal is required. Since classes are continuing with no set date on a return to the physical school building, it is important that we implement an alternative online option so that students continue to receive instruction. The Zoom platform is the software chosen by the school district to continue learning online. This platform will be used by all instructional teachers at the school. Teachers with classroom experience ranging from half a year of teaching to nearly 50 years will receive this training. This training will focus explicitly on the technology at hand, given the learners share the characteristic of having curriculum specific training several times a year and are considered experts in their subject matter. Since as previously mentioned there is no set date to return to school for both faculty and students, this training will be conducted online and be accessible to teachers from their homes.
